NCSOFT (NC), the first Korean game company to develop its own AI language model, "VARCO LLM", was released on August 16. "VARCO" is the unified brand name of NC's AI language model, which means "Via AI, Realize your Creativity and Originality".
The types of large language models (LLMs) operated under the 'VARCO' brand are broadly divided into Foundation, Instruction, Dialogue, and Generative. The performance of each LLM is categorized according to the size of the parameter.
On August 16, NC first unveiled the "VARCO LLM" for small to medium-sized Korean, which can be easily utilized by individuals and companies. The model is characterized by the fact that it is trained mainly on high-quality data selected by NC from the initial stage of development, making it easy and convenient for users to utilize it for business.
The models provided by NC will be distributed through Amazon SageMaker JumpStart for the first time in Korea. Amazon SageMaker JumpStart is a machine learning hub that includes basic models, built-in algorithms, and pre-built machine learning solutions. Through the collaboration with Amazon, users can use "VARCO LLM" for free for one month from anywhere in the world.
NC will also introduce a bilingual model that can be used in both Korean and English within this month, and will gradually release language models by scale and type.
Today, NC also introduced three additional generative AI platforms based on VARCO LLM. These are VARCO Art, VARCO Text, and VARCO Human. The three generative AI platforms will be serviced under the name "VARCO Studio". The platform aims to improve efficiency in areas such as planning and art required for game development.
