The 2023 Global Talent Fair, hosted by the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy and the Ministry of Employment and Labor and organized by KOTRA, the Korea Industrial Manpower Corporation and the National Institute of International Education, was held on August 21 at COEX in Seoul. The fair is Korea's largest global job fair, bringing together about 400 companies, including Korean companies, foreign-invested companies and overseas companies. By integrating three existing global job competitions (overseas employment), foreign company employment fairs, and foreign student employment fairs into a "global talent fair," it has attracted the attention of job seekers who want to be hired by global companies.

This year, 168 foreign-invested companies participated in the recruitment fair. 46 of the Forbes Global 2000 companies participated, including Dell Technologies Korea (digital), Siemens Healthineers (biohealth), Airplane Materials Korea (advanced components and materials), and Infineon Technologies Korea (semiconductor). Foreign-invested companies are popular among job seekers because of their excellent benefits and work-life balance, horizontal structure that respects employee competencies, and solid business capabilities that are recognized in the global marketplace.

At the Global Job Center, 114 overseas companies seeking overseas employees conducted interviews and consultations with the goal of hiring more than 1,000 people. Of these, 99 companies had recruiters visit Korea, while the remaining 15 companies met with Korean job seekers through online video interviews. By country, Japan had the highest number of companies with 66, and there was also high demand for jobs from developed countries such as the United States and Australia. Japan's Parsona, Open House, and Malaysia's Expedia were among the top recruiters. In addition to 2,500 pre-arranged interviews, on-site interviews were also conducted.

Meanwhile, foreigners studying in Korea found job opportunities through the Foreign Student Recruitment Center. The 100 Korean companies that participated in the fair plan to expand their global business opportunities by recruiting more than 300 global talents with diverse cultures and skills. In particular, companies from high-tech industries such as Main Information System (future mobility), SK Bioscience (biomedical), Fosco Future M (advanced parts and materials), and SK Telecom (digital) participated in the fair.

In addition to on-site and video interviews between employers and job seekers, the Global Talent Fair held various side events such as employment special employment lectures by seniors, resume/cover letter consultations, project introductions to international organizations, one-on-one employment consultations (photography, psychological counseling), briefing sessions on employment strategies in major countries, award ceremonies for employment success competitions, and visa lectures. In particular, in order to expand the participation of local job seekers, a preliminary job briefing was held in 10 provinces (Busan, Daegu, Gyeongbuk, Daejeon, Chungnam, Honam, etc.) to promote the fair and strengthen job seekers' skills.

Company A, a global travel and accommodation platform company that participated in the fair, said, "We are trying to hire a number of customer management positions," and explaining, "We hope to grow together by hiring global talents with business manners, effective communication skills, and service-mindedness." A job seeker who attended the fair said, "I attended this fair because I wanted to build global skills with my experience working in overseas companies," adding, "I was able to meet different companies in one place by holding an integrated fair." Regarding the job seekers who participated in the fair, KOTRA President Jeoung yeol Yoo said, "If you actively promote your strengths and proudly express your affection and sincerity for your work, there will be good results."
