Hanwha Group is participating in H2 MEET, a three-day event taking place September 13-15 at KINTEX in Goyang City.

Seven Hanwha Group companies (Hanwha Corporation, Hanwha Energy, Hanwha Solutions, Hanwha Aerospace, Hanwha Ocean, Hanwha Impact, and Hanwha Power Systems) will showcase their integrated value chain for producing, storing, and transporting clean hydrogen based on renewable energy and ammonia to hydrogen power plants and hydrogen fuel cells.

Hanwha Corporation, Hanwha Energy, Hanwha Solutions, and Hanwha Impact will introduce water electrolysis technology, which uses electricity generated by renewable energy such as solar and wind power to decompose water to produce hydrogen, and ammonia to produce hydrogen.

In particular, the water electrolysis technology that Hanwha Solutions is researching is a next-generation technology that can produce hydrogen with lower initial investment costs and less electricity than existing technologies.

Hanwha Solutions will also exhibit various types of high-pressure tanks for the reliable storage and transportation of produced hydrogen, including tanks for trailer transportation, hydrogen vehicles, drones, and aerospace tanks. Hanwha Solutions' 37-foot (11.1 m) high-pressure tank has the world's largest storage capacity (4080 L) and excellent pressure resistance (517 bar).

Hanwha Aerospace will display a 100kW lightweight hydrogen fuel cell that can be applied to Urban Air Mobility (UAM) and Regional Air Mobility (RAM). Hanwha Aerospace plans to expand the business of applying this hydrogen fuel cell to eco-friendly future air mobility.

Hanwha Ocean will also display an ammonia carrier, which is emerging as the next generation of eco-friendly ships, and a 3,000-ton submarine model equipped with a hydrogen fuel cell system. Hanwha Ocean has already obtained certifications from the UK's Lloyd's Register for ammonia-powered container ships and ultra-large crude carriers, and is on track for commercialization in 2025.

Hanwha Power Systems, which is independently developing carbon-free power generation technology that uses 100% hydrogen as fuel, is currently on the verge of carbon-free power generation and plans to introduce hydrogen-blend power generation technology that uses a mixture of LNG and hydrogen as fuel. This technology has significant economic benefits as it can extend the lifespan of LNG turbines by at least 10 years by retrofitting them with hydrogen turbines.

In addition to its existing renewable energy projects such as solar and wind power, Hanwha Group plans to contribute to global carbon neutrality through its clean hydrogen business and commercially operate a hydrogen power plant using hydrogen hybrid power generation technology in 2027.
