Concordium, the Layer 1 science-backed blockchain creating a safer digital world, has today announced an integration with Web23, the smart domain platform, which will enable Web23’s smart wallet to host Web2 and Web3 domains. The partnership also supports the launch of the Concordium Name Service (CNS), a decentralized platform that enables user-friendly wallet addresses to be built using Concordium’s ID verification layer. The new Web23 wallet will be used to buy, sell and manage both Web2 and Web3 domains under one simple platform, enhancing compatibility within the domain space for all chains and browsers. The Web23 smart wallet boasts the unique ability to host both traditional and new-age domains simultaneously. This technological integration builds the foundations upon which the Concordium Name Service, a distributed, secure and extensible naming system for Web3, can be established.

Lars Seier Christensen, Chairman of Concordium, said, “The launch of the Concordium Name Service and the integration with Web23 will enable users to name their wallets,  making it easier to interact and conduct transactions with other verified users. Moreover, this integration will add transparency for enterprises in use cases such as sustainability and ESG tracking, as enterprise domains are found with identifiable domain names compared to complex and lengthy hexadecimal titles. More and more enterprise users are integrating from Web2 to Web3, so the ability to manage both domains from one platform will make the transition more efficient.”

The integration boasts blockchain-enabled ID verifiability through Concordium’s ID verification layer. This is an accountable ecosystem that verifies the identity of issuers, contributors and more. The integration with Web23 ensures that users can truly own their domains, and verify that the domains to which they are engaging are authentic and trusted. This way, users protect themselves and others from websites impersonating companies or created purely for fraudulent purposes.

Som Kirann, Founder of Web23, said, This smoothening of the transition between Web2 and Web3 nullifies the complicated nature of Web3 onboarding. Concordium brings identity verification to the table, ensuring the problems associated with Web2, like big tech’s monopoly on data, will not transfer to Web3. Users can verify their identity and domains while using their wallets, knowing that the websites they are visiting are authentic.Building a safer environment for all of our online interactions is a powerful narrative that appeals to both individuals and enterprises alike. Through the use of Concordium’s ID layer and zero-knowledge proof technology, Web23 is helping to build a safer environment for all of our online interactions.”
