Hyundai Motor Group Chairman Chung Eui-sun traveled to Washington, D.C., to launch the "Hyundai Hope On Wheels" campaign. At the event, child ambassadors who have survived childhood cancer threw out the ceremonial first pitch at a major league stadium to show their support for children and families battling cancer.
According to Hyundai, on September 21 (local time), Chung launched a campaign to fight childhood cancer at the Ronald Reagan Building in Washington, DC. "Hyundai Hope On Wheels," a campaign to fight childhood cancer.
"Driven by a vision of progress for humanity, Hyundai is committed to doing the right things for the world, including innovating products and fulfilling our corporate social responsibility," said Chariman Chung in his welcome remarks. "In that sense, Hope on Wheels is one of the activities that Hyundai holds dear. "We want to help create a world free of childhood cancer and give hope to children who are battling the disease."
"Hyundai Hope On Wheels" is Hyundai Motor Company's flagship CSR program in the United States. It is one of the top three childhood cancer foundations in the U.S. in terms of funding. The organization is operated as a pooled fund, with Hyundai dealers contributing a certain amount per vehicle sold and Hyundai matching the donation.
Hyundai's $25 million donation this year in honor of Hope On Wheels' 25th anniversary brings its cumulative contribution to $225 million. To date, nearly 1,300 projects at 175 hospitals and research institutions treating or researching cures for childhood cancer in the U.S. have been supported by Hope On Wheels.
