[Fontainebleau (France), Singapore, Abu Dhabi, San Francisco] INSEAD, the business school for the world has made a groundbreaking announcement that marks a significant advance in the field of educational technology. On October 5, INSEAD unveiled the INSEAD XR Portal, an innovative platform that is now home to the most comprehensive collection of learning experiences enhanced by virtual reality (VR) technology. This pioneering venture, development combines immersive learning with a comprehensive solution to bring these transformative experiences to classrooms around the world.
INSEAD XR represents a giant leap forward in educational technology. It introduces a scalable, cost-effective and easy-to-use XR-based solution that increases the impact of learning by making it not only more engaging, but also more memorable. This exceptional portal provides access to a repertoire of 20 VR experiences covering a wide range of management topics.
More than 40 INSEAD faculty members have already adopted INSEAD XR, integrating it into their teaching or research activities, or actively participating in the creation of VR experiences. In addition, INSEAD XR has successfully onboarded three academic institutions to begin integrating VR experiences into their teaching practices, with plans for more to follow in the near future.
INSEAD Dean Professor Francisco Veloso, expressed his pride in the institution's continued commitment to innovation in management education. He noted that INSEAD XR is at the forefront of learning and research, that not only benefits INSEAD but also has a global impact.
INSEAD XR was created as a collaborative effort for academic and corporate partners under the visionary leadership of Professor Ithai Stern, who serves as the Professor of Strategy at INSEAD and also serves as Academic Director of the VR Immersive Learning Initiative. Stern's groundbreaking contributions to educational innovation were recognized with the prestigious 2023 Strategic Management Society (SMS) Educational Impact Award, presented at the SMS Annual Conference in Toronto. This esteemed award recognizes individuals who have significantly enhanced the quality and innovation of strategic management
education Stern was recognized as a "champion of VR immersive learning" for his tireless efforts to unite a global consortium of business school professors dedicated to the creating and integrating VR content into management education.
Professor Stern discussed the INSEAD XR Library, emphasizing that it goes beyond the mere presentation of digital cases. It serves as a turnkey solution for academic and corporate partners, providing them with a suite of immersive learning tools that can be easily implemented or customized to meet specific learning objectives.
The INSEAD XR initiative is supported by the Abu Dhabi Department of Education and Knowledge (ADE ), which has formed a strategic partnership with AVRIS. This support has enabled INSEAD XR to be used management education and experimental academic research.
In addition, the INSEAD Immersive Learning Initiative hosted the 1st Annual Meeting of the Global XR Community in June, held at the INSEAD Middle East Campus in Abu Dhabi. This event brought together scholars from around the world who are actively engaged in the use and development of VR for teaching and research. The second edition of this gathering is planned for April 2024, to be held at the INSEAD San Francisco Hub for Business Innovation.
