On October 11, SK and SK Group Chairman Chey Tae-won met with a delegation of six visiting U.S. senators, including U.S. Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer, at SK's Seorin headquarters to discuss ways to advance economic cooperation in a wide range of fields.
According to SK on October 12, the U.S. senators said, "SK has become a bridge between Korea and the U.S. and a key supply chain partner in various fields such as semiconductors, batteries, and energy, we will further expand our interest and support for SK's business activities."
"We will continue to invest in the U.S. in our core business areas," said SK Group Chairman Chey. "To find solutions to global issues such as climate change and digital transformation, joint responses from various stakeholders are essential."
In particular, regarding the supply chain issue, which is a global issue, Chairman Chey expressed his hope that the 2023 Trans-Pacific Dialogue (TPD), which will be held in December this year, will allow the public, private, and academic sectors to discuss solutions to this issue in depth.
Meanwhile, launched in 2019 by the Chey Institute for Advanced Studies, the TPD is a collective intelligence platform that brings together former and current senior officials from the three countries, the United States, and Japan, as well as world-renowned scholars, think tanks, and business leaders, to discuss international issues in the Northeast Asia and Pacific region and seek solutions for economic and security cooperation.
