Hong Kong - Neo, the open-source blockchain platform, is hosting the HK Web3 Evolution event at Hong Kong's Cyberport. This event marks the conclusion of the 2023 APAC Hackathon and celebrates the one-year anniversary of Hong Kong's progressive crypto and blockchain policies. The hackathon kicked off in July, with nearly 100 teams competing across five Asian cities for a total prize pool of $120,000 and a post-hackathon grant fund of $1 million.
The event is organized in partnership with prominent Hong Kong organizations such as Cyberport, Web3Labs and Invest Hong Kong. It provides a platform to discuss and celebrate Hong Kong's progressive Web3 policy, which was launched by the Hong Kong Monetary Authority and government officials last year. The event will be held on October 27 and 28 at Cyberport, Hong Kong's hub for digital technology and entrepreneurship.
In line with Hong Kong's commitment to fostering a thriving Web3 ecosystem, HK Web3 Evolution will feature panel discussions and keynote speeches from distinguished attendees, including members of the Hong Kong Legislative Council and key figures in the Web3 industry, such as OKX. Speakers will explore the future direction of the Web3 industry in Hong Kong and Asia, and discuss ways to support its development.
The event will also honor the winners of the APAC Hackathon, which showcases the best developer talent from the Asia-Pacific region. Neo's founder, Da Hongfei, expressed his excitement about the event's potential impact on the Web3 landscape in Hong Kong and the wider APAC region.
In addition, the event will bring together Hong Kong officials, venture capitalists, academics and other industry experts to share insights on how best to support Web3 development and global opportunities in the field. Registration is now open for those interested in attending.
Neo's APAC Hackathon will be held in several cities to recognize them as vibrant Web3 development hubs. Winning teams from these cities will advance to the $1 million Web3.0 Global Acceleration Program, jointly led by Neo and Web3Labs, which aims to foster Web3 innovation and development in Hong Kong.
As the Neo APAC Hackathon competition enters its final phase, participating teams must submit their projects to DoraHacks by October 20, 2023, to be considered for the project short-listing process.
