KCC recently announced that it invited more than 70 representatives from 27 key partners of its Malaysian subsidiary (KCM) to its headquarters in Korea for a workshop to strengthen partnerships.
The workshop was designed to share KCC's vision and strategy and explore practical ways to revitalize business in Southeast Asia. In particular, participants visited KCC's Ulsan plant and HD Hyundai Heavy Industries shipyard to inspect shipbuilding sites and KCC's marine coatings, as well as discuss business cooperation.
The event was attended by representatives and employees of partner companies that sell architectural and marine paint products in Malaysia, Cambodia, Papua New Guinea, and the Maldives.
Partners learned about KCC's management philosophy and history, shared business status and strategies, received training to understand KCC products, analyzed the Malaysian market, which serves as a base for the Southeast Asian market, and toured KCC's Ulsan plant and major trading vessels (Hyundai Heavy Industries).
Malaysia is one of the most competitive paint markets in Southeast Asia for global players, and KCM, a local subsidiary, is actively marketing its products by placing advertisements in major locations in Malaysia to improve brand awareness.
Representatives of partner companies reportedly showed great interest in KCC's various building materials, including sealants, masonry, and flooring, as well as paints, and requested cooperation.
"I was very impressed with the incoming canning system at KCC's Ulsan plant, and I plan to improve my understanding of various KCC products, not just paints, and consider ways to introduce KCC products suitable for the local market," said Thous Chantrear, a representative of KCC's Ulsan plant.
"By sharing KCC's successful business model in Korea with our partners in Southeast Asia, we plan to continue our partnership to create a win-win situation for KCC, our Malaysian subsidiary, and our partners in Southeast Asia," said Baek Chang-ki, Executive Vice President of KCC.
KCM was founded in 1997 in Shah Alam, Selangor, and mainly produces architectural paints.
