Genesis BBQ Group (BBQ), the largest chicken franchise in Korea, has recently expanded its presence in Southeast Asia by opening stores in Vietnam and the Philippines.
BBQ announced on November 8 that it has opened its fourth store in the Philippines at "The Shops," a shopping mall located in the southeast of Manila, the capital of the Philippines.
BBQ, which opened its first store in Global City, one of Manila's premier residential neighborhoods, in November last year, expanded to four stores within a year of entering the country thanks to the support and popularity of locals and tourists.
The Shops store opened as a premium cafe with 231㎡ and 112 seats, serving Korean food such as tteokbokki with chicken, as well as coffee, pizza, and more.
The Shops" mall, where the store opened, is located in a downtown area with department stores, supermarkets, hotels, and offices, making it one of the best commercial areas in Southeast Manila with high foot traffic and high consumption.
"The first store in the Philippines is emerging as a hot spot among local consumers, with more than 700 people visiting on average every day," said an official of BBQ. "We will continue to expand in other Southeast Asian countries, including the opening of a store in Da Nang, Vietnam last month, to bring BBQ chicken to more people in the region."
Meanwhile, BBQ is accelerating its global expansion, expanding to 26 states in the U.S. this year and expanding into Latin America, including Panama and Costa Rica. The company also recently opened a "BBQ DaNang" in Da Nang, a popular vacation destination in Vietnam.
