Zürich, Switzerland - Sevensense Robotics, the winner of the Swiss Logistics Awards, has been chosen by the European Logistics Association (ELA) jury as one of the top six projects competing in the final phase of the ELA Awards 2023. The project, titled "Visual SLAM Localization and Navigation for Mobile Robots in Logistics," aims to expedite the automation of warehouses and logistics operations by empowering vehicle manufacturers to introduce Visual-SLAM-powered smart mobile robots to the market.
Sevensense's VSLAM technology, a proven solution in the market, allows providers of manually operated vehicles to transform into manufacturers of smart mobile robots. The technology seamlessly integrates into any vehicle platform, providing manufacturers with access to the 94% of warehouses that are currently untouched by automation. This includes the automation potential of millions of forklifts and other logistic vehicles like tuggers and pallet trucks, amounting to 1.5 million forklifts sold annually according to the Industrial Truck Association. The implementation of this solution can be achieved without extensive and costly in-house developments, thereby significantly accelerating the pace at which warehouses and logistics operations can be automated. This technological advancement equips the industry with the flexibility to address both current and future challenges.
Gregory Hitz, CEO and Co-founder of Sevensense Robotics, expressed gratitude for the opportunity to represent Switzerland in the ELA Awards 2023. He looks forward to showcasing the benefits of their Visual SLAM technology and emphasized that their journey in reshaping the logistics landscape through automated material handling robots has just commenced.
The ELA Awards ceremony is scheduled to take place during the European summit themed "For Supply and Beyond, Rethink the Future with Supply Chain." The event, hosted by France Supply Chain by ASLOG, will be held at the Cité Internationale Universitaire in Paris on December 12, 2023, from 14h00 to 22h30. European leaders from various industries, retail, and logistics, along with representatives of the ELA Board of Directors, will be in attendance.
The six finalist projects vying for the trophy include RWA (Raiffeisen Ware Austria) from Austria, Seat from Spain, The Usyncro multimodal platform from Spain, Leroy Merlin from France, a project led by the Slovenian company Cargo X for the Egyptian customs single window Nafeza from Slovenia, and Sevensense from Switzerland with their "The Visual SLAM localization and navigation system for mobile robots in logistics."
If Sevensense emerges as the winner, Switzerland will host the final of the 2024 ELA Awards. Stay tuned for updates as Sevensense Robotics aims to showcase Switzerland's prowess on the European stage of logistics innovation.
