Korea's Kyungdong (KD) Navien shipped its first "Condensing Hydro Furnace" to the U.S. market on November 13, local time. This marks Navien's entry into the furnace market, the main heating market in North America, in addition to its current market-leading condensing water heaters and boilers, and signals its entry into the global heating, ventilation and air-conditioning (HVAC) market.
Furnaces, the main heating method in North America, have a market size of 4.7 million units per year, more than five times that of the condensing water heater market, in which Kyungdong NAVIEN leads.
Furnaces heat air with high-temperature combustion exhaust and supply it to the room, similar to the heating method of large lodging facilities such as hotels in Korea. Unlike a boiler that heats the floor with hot water, it heats the air directly, so it is very dry, and the comfort of heating decreases due to large temperature fluctuations in the room. There is also a risk of harmful gases entering the room through the air due to incomplete combustion.
The Condensing Hydro Furnace shipped by KD Navien is a premium product that solves these problems by combining globally recognized condensing technology and hot water technology. Since the water is heated first and then used to warm the air and supply it to the room, the air is not dry.
In particular, it provides more stable heating by adjusting the temperature of the water to realize precise room temperature. In addition, the boiler and blower parts are separated to prevent harmful gases from entering the room, solving safety issues. In addition, the low-vibration design reduces noise to provide a more comfortable living environment.
It is also distinguished by its high energy efficiency thanks to KD Navien's condensing technology. It is also effective in reducing nitrogen oxide and carbon dioxide, which is expected to gain traction in the U.S., which is strengthening its eco-friendly policies.
In fact, according to the industry, the market ratio of conventional furnaces and condensing furnaces is about 6:4 as of 2020, but the proportion of condensing is constantly growing.
Meanwhile, in addition to the Condensing Hydro Furnace, KD Navien plans to launch a heat pump with the latest inverter compressor to strengthen its targets in the North American HVAC market.
