Hyundai Engineering is actively promoting cooperation projects for the reconstruction of Ukraine and stabilization of local residents.
Hyundai Engineering announced on November 16 that it signed two memorandums of understanding (MOUs) for cooperation in the modular construction business and fertilizer and chemical business at the 2023 Rebuild Ukraine Exposition (RUE), which was held from November 14 to 15 in Warsaw, Poland.
The 2023 RUE was organized with the aim of securing international funds for the reconstruction of Ukrainian communities and rebuilding the infrastructure of energy companies. Organized by Ukrainian exhibition company Premier Expo and sponsored by the Ukrainian Ministry of Energy, the event attracted more than 580 government agencies, private companies, and other organizations from nearly 30 countries, including Poland, the United States, the United Kingdom, and Denmark.
On November 14, the first day of the expo, Hyundai Engineering signed an MOU with Kryvyi Rih City, Ukraine, to jointly develop a modular construction business. Under the agreement, Hyundai plans to discuss the construction of infrastructure such as houses, hospitals, and schools using modular construction in the Kryvyi Rih City area.
Modular construction refers to a construction method in which modular units, including the main structure and architectural finishes, are prefabricated in a factory, transported to the site, and assembled. It is expected to speed up the reconstruction project in Ukraine by reducing the construction period by 30-50% compared to conventional construction methods.
On November 15, the second day of the exhibition, Hyundai Engineering signed an MOU with Group DF (GDF), the parent company of OSTCHEM, the largest private fertilizer producer in Ukraine, to cooperate in the fertilizer and chemical business. The two companies will work together to rehabilitate fertilizer and chemical plants owned by OSTCHEM, as well as materialize plans for new plant construction projects.
