Doosan Energility is promoting Korean gas turbine technology developed with South Korean industry, academia, and research in the Philippines.
Doosan Energility announced on Nov. 26 that it met with government officials from the Philippine Congress and the Department of Environment in Manila, Philippines, as well as potential customers such as Meralco, the country's largest power transmission and distribution company, and developer Aboitiz, to introduce the Korean gas turbine and hydrogen turbine being developed as a national project.
On Nov. 24 (local time), Doosan Enerbility set up a booth at a sports event attended by a number of Philippine energy sector companies. The event was hosted by Union Bank of the Philippines, the country's largest commercial bank, and a Philippine NGO (Next Generation Advocate Foundation PH Inc.), and was attended by Doosan Enerbility President Yeon-in Jung and Vice President Kim Jung-kwan.
"Based on our know-how of successfully executing a number of projects in the Philippines, we would like to enter the Philippine gas turbine market using the same frequency (60 Hz) as in Korea," said Jung Yeon-in, President of Doosan Enerbility. "We will continue to actively promote the competitiveness of Korean gas turbines through customized marketing to Korean and foreign customers, which will lead to future exports."
In 2019, Doosan Enerbility successfully localized large-scale gas turbines for power generation and supplied Korea's first gas turbine to KEPCO's Gimpo Combined Cycle Power Plant. In addition, Doosan Enerbility has been developing Korean standard gas combined cycle models with more than 340 South Korean industry, academia, and research institutes as a national task since 2021, and in June signed a contract with KEPCO to supply main units including a 380MW H-class ultra-large gas turbine to the Boryeong New Combined Cycle Power Plant.
