Versum Materials Hanyang Machinery Co., Ltd., a Korean subsidiary of the German multinational science and technology company Merck Electronics, achieved significant recognition on November 30, 2023.
The occasion was the 30th "Korea Gas Safety Awards" ceremony, an event organized by the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy and Korea Gas Safety Corporation. At this ceremony, the company was honored with the prestigious Prime Minister's citation.
This accolade was bestowed upon Versum Materials Hanyang Machinery Co., Ltd., in acknowledgment of its substantial contributions to the semiconductor industry. The company was lauded for its excellence in various areas, including product development, implementing safe gas supply through innovative technologies, fostering education to establish a safety culture, and demonstrating sustainable management practices.
Merck Electronics, the parent company, has played a pivotal role in the industrial development of Korea. Notably, it successfully developed and commercialized the first gas supply system for special gases in a semiconductor production line within the country. This achievement has resulted in a remarkable import substitution effect, exceeding 200 billion won annually. Additionally, it has led to job creation and facilitated productivity improvement and facility investment cost reduction of more than 300 billion won annually for customers.
Beyond contributing to the semiconductor industry's overall growth, Versum Materials Hanyang Machinery Co., Ltd., operates in compliance with safety regulations. The company ensures the secure supply of essential gases for semiconductor manufacturing processes, aligning with the recommendations outlined in the 2001 High-Pressure Gas Safety Management Act. This legislation mandates the use of a cylinder cabinet as a specific facility, a measure adopted by the company to prioritize safety in its operations.
