LS Cable & System announced on Dec. 4 that it has launched a 5G-class Power over Ethernet (PoE) cable. The product supports the world's highest communication speed.
LS Cable & System expects the new product, Simplewide™ 2.0, to replace expensive optical cables used for multi-channel cameras and high-definition CCTV.
PoE sends data and power simultaneously over a single cable. Simplewide™ 2.0 supports 5Gbps-100W communication speed and power for devices up to 180 meters away. The previous best performance was 1Gbps-30W at 200 meters.
5G-class communication speeds enable high-definition video streaming and data backup for IP cameras, CCTV, and the Internet of Things (IoT).
Simplewide™ 2.0 also increases power to 100W, the world's highest level, making it possible to operate CCTVs with high-performance functions such as motion detection.
"It can reduce installation costs by 40-50% compared to optical cables, and there is no need to install power cables and outlets separately," said an official from LS Cable & System. "Demand is expanding mainly in subways, parks, schools, sports stadiums, and smart buildings."
