KT announced that it will publish a 2024 World Day calendar in collaboration with the Korean National Commission for UNESCO. Twelve artists from the Y Artist label, operated by KT's young target brand Y, participated in designing the monthly pages.
KT Y has been running the "Y Artist Project" for four years, which selects and supports young artists every year to discover emerging young artists and encourage their activities.
Currently, a total of 24 artists are under the Y Artist label, connecting with projects of various institutions and companies and creating programs and collaboration opportunities to grow into recognized artists. Noticing this, the Korean National Commission for UNESCO proposed a collaboration, and 12 members of the Y Artist Label created monthly artwork for the 2024 World Anniversary Calendar.
The Korean National Commission for UNESCO is celebrating its 70th anniversary in 2024, and the World Day Calendar was conceived as a way to better recognize and remember the world's anniversaries, and to put the meaning of these celebrations into practice. More days to remember and celebrate means a meaningful and new day, and we wanted to propose a new daily routine that resonates with global issues through UNESCO World Day.
The 2024 World Day Calendar will be distributed by the national and international UNESCO network, including 199 National Commissions around the world, developing countries receiving education support projects, UNESCO Korea's sponsors, and key educational, scientific and cultural institutions, including primary, secondary and tertiary schools and government ministries in Korea.
The 2024 calendar takes the 70th anniversary as an opportunity to showcase the power of Korean culture, while also reflecting international issues and standards.
Considering the importance of the environment, KT Y set standards for the minimum number of copies to be distributed, used eco-friendly materials through sustainable processes throughout the planning and production of the calendar, and supplemented it with additional digital goods that are accessible to all.
In addition, to express the values of each month's World Day, we designated a color that reminds us of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) designated by the United Nations as a representative color, included a World Day icon, designated a representative World Day for each month, and selected 12 artists to design the artwork.
