Korea Expressway Corporation announced on December 13 that it has signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with the Mykolaiv Oblast of Ukraine for the reconstruction and modernization of road facilities in Ukraine.
The MOU aims to build consensus on the development of cooperation in the road sector through enhanced partnership between the two countries and to rebuild road facilities damaged by the war and modernize key infrastructure.
The main contents of the agreement include technical cooperation for the rehabilitation and modernization of road facilities, exchange of expertise and personnel related to road construction, sharing of know-how in smart construction technology, and operation of training programs.
The two countries will implement the cooperation plan between the parties based on equality, good faith, respect and trust.
"We expect the signing of the agreement to serve as an opportunity for Korean private companies to enter the road reconstruction business in Ukraine," said Ham Jin-gyu, President of Korea Expressway Corporation.
"Mykolaiv Oblast in southern Ukraine is a major economic region in Ukraine, and we plan to not only restore infrastructure such as roads but also build new highways," said Vitalii Kim, Governor of Mykolaiv Oblast. "We hope to work with Korea Expressway Corporation and related companies to rebuild infrastructure."
