Daewoong Pharmaceutical recently held the Daewoong Aesthetics 1Day Master Class for the fourth time this year to discuss the use of botulinum toxin formulations for chronic pain relief with Korean medical professionals, the company announced on Dec. 22.
The event covered the utilization of botulinum toxin preparations for chronic pain relief. The event consisted of know-how on how to treat pain by area using NAVOTA, live demonstrations, and hands-on one-on-one coaching.
In particular, the attendees showed great interest in NAVOTA's effectiveness in treating cervical spine and shoulder (neck) pain and bruxism, which are classified as chronic pain.
In a session on how to use NAVOTA for site-specific pain treatments, Dr. Choi Woo-jin, director of the allbareun Neurosurgery Center, reviewed papers on the growing popularity of botulinum toxin treatments for chronic pain in various areas of the body and the expansion of indications for use in painful areas.
Dr. Nabota published a study in the SCI-ranked journal Toxins that showed improvement in pain and dysfunction in patients with myofascial pain syndrome of the cervical spine and shoulder blades, and relief of bruxism during sleep.
During the live demonstrations and hands-on one-on-one coaching sessions that followed, Dr. Choi demonstrated the advanced procedures and shared his know-how, and attendees had the opportunity to participate in the procedures themselves.
"When patients with TMJ disorders ignore early symptoms and delay treatment, they often develop facial asymmetry, sleep disturbances, and head, face, and neck pain, including headaches," said Dr. Choi. "With proven efficacy for pain, NAVOTA is a great option for patients who have seen little improvement with traditional treatments."
