LG Display is showcasing its next-generation automotive display solutions at CES 2024, the world's largest IT and consumer electronics show in Las Vegas, USA.

LG Display will host a booth dedicated to automotive displays for its global automotive and electronics customers in the West Hall of the Las Vegas Convention Center (LVCC) under the theme "Optimal Solutions for Future Mobility.

The company plans to propose automotive display solutions optimized for Software Defined Vehicle (SDV), which has recently become a hot topic in the mobility industry.

SDVs are characterized by screenification, in which displays are increasingly installed as various vehicle control and infotainment functions are enhanced.

In response, LG Display will propose a variety of ultra-large automotive display solutions that fill the dashboard based on differentiated technologies such as Plastic (P)-OLED, Advanced Thin OLED (ATO), and Low Temperature Polycrystalline Silicon (LTPS) LCD.

P-OLED is a premium lineup of ultra-high definition that is lightweight and bendable using a flexible plastic substrate, while ATO is a new product that offers differentiated value of automotive OLED at an affordable price point using a glass substrate. Compared to conventional LCDs, LTPS LCDs have the advantage of enabling larger sizes and higher resolutions.

The company will also introduce Switchable Privacy Mode (SPM), which controls the display viewing angle to help drivers keep their eyes forward.

The SPM feature has become increasingly important in premium automobiles as screens have recently expanded from the instrument panel in front of the driver to the front of the passenger seat. With SPM enabled, you can watch a movie on the passenger's screen, but it won't be visible to the driver, making for safer driving.

We will also showcase solutions that maximize the efficiency of limited space in the car, such as slidable and foldable OLEDs that can be applied to the back seat of the car to unfold and use the screen according to the needs of the passengers.
