SK hynix announced today that it will showcase the technology for ultra-high performance memory products, the core of future AI infrastructure, at CES 2024, the most influential tech event in the world taking place from January 9 through 12 in Las Vegas.
At CES 2024, SK hynix will emphasize its future vision, Memory Centric1, which underscores the pivotal role of memory products in ICT devices. The company aims to convey the significance of memory products in driving technological innovation during the AI era and assert its competitive stance in the global memory markets.
Memory Centric1, as conceptualized by SK hynix, envisions memory products as central to the functioning of ICT devices.
As part of the exhibition, SK hynix will collaborate with other major SK Group affiliates, including SK Inc., SK Innovation, and SK Telecom, in a shared space titled SK Wonderland. The showcase will feature key AI memory products, prominently including HBM3E.
SK hynix plans to initiate mass production of HBM3E, recognized as the world's best-performing memory product, in the first half of 2024. The company aims to supply this cutting-edge technology to the world's largest AI technology companies.
Within SK Group's space at CES, designed with an amusement-park theme, SK hynix will present an AI Fortuneteller. This interactive exhibit utilizes generative AI technology based on HBM3E, creating cartoon character images based on visitors' faces and providing New Year fortunes.
Moreover, SK hynix will showcase its leading AI technology at the SK ICT Family Demo Room, a collaborative effort with other SK ICT companies. The exhibition will include demonstrations of Compute Express Link (CXL2), a next-generation interface, a test product of Computational Memory Solution (CMS), and Accelerator-in-Memory based Accelerator (AiMX3), a processing-in-memory chip-based accelerator card designed for generative AI with cost-effectiveness and high efficiency.
CXL (Compute Express Link), a PCIe-based next-generation interconnect protocol, and AiMX (Accelerator-in-Memory based Accelerator), SK hynix’s accelerator card product specializing in large language models using GDDR6-AiM chips, are showcased in the SK ICT Family Demo Room.
SK hynix plans to commercialize 96GB and 128GB CXL 2.0 memory solutions based on DDR5 in the second half of the year, targeting shipments to AI customers. The CXL memory, along with HBM, emerges as a core product amid the ascent of AI technology.
“We are thrilled to showcase our technology, which has risen to the core of the AI infrastructure in the U.S., home to AI technology,” said Justin Kim, President (Head of AI Infra) at SK hynix. “SK hynix will step up its efforts for collaboration with global players, while seeking to accelerate a turnaround in business with its leadership in the AI memory space.”
