LG Display recently completed the development of a "27-inch 480Hz QHD gaming OLED panel" and announced on Jan. 4 that it will be unveiled for the first time at CES 2024, the world's largest IT and consumer electronics show in Las Vegas this month.
The panel provides an optimal gaming experience with LG Display OLED's unique three-dimensional picture quality that allows each pixel to shine on its own without backlighting, an overwhelming refresh rate (480Hz), QHD (2560x1440) resolution, and the fastest response time (0.03ms) of any panel on the market.
480Hz means 480 images per second. A higher refresh rate is one of the most important aspects of a gaming monitor, as it makes content feel smoother and sharper, even on fast-paced screens.
The image quality is enhanced by the application of a new Micro Lens Array (MLA)-based meta-technology that maximizes light emission from organic matter, minimizing the reflection of surrounding objects on the screen in dark scenes.
It is also characterized by half the amount of blue light emission that is harmful to the eyes compared to LCDs, and there is no flicker phenomenon that causes headaches, so there is less eye fatigue even when gaming for a long time.
The product is scheduled for mass production and supply in the first half of this year.
Meanwhile, LG Display plans to unveil a full lineup of gaming OLED panels ranging from 27-inch to 31.5, 34, 39, and 45-inch at CES 2024, with plans to take the lead in the high-end gaming display market.
"We will strengthen our leadership in the high-end gaming display market with OLED's differentiated technologies such as ultra-high refresh rate, fast response time, and perfect black," said Kang Kang-seok, Head of Large Product Planning at LG Display.
