2024 is the year of Artificial Intelligence (AI). In case you haven't noticed, AI chatbots are everywhere. They are your assistants for everything, your business, your R&D, your therapists, your entertainers, and your friends. They can brainstorm, write, code, draw, and even drag and drop for you.

But not everyone is happy with the year of AI. Some fear that AI will take over our jobs, our privacy, and our humanity. They wonder if we will lose ourselves in the virtual world while the real world crumbles around us.

It's expected that CES 2024, which runs from January 9-12 in Las Vegas, will be the place to see and debate some unexpected new facts. It's imagined that we'll see the best and worst of what AI can do for us.

The theme of CES 2024 is 'All Together. All On.' Everything is connected by AI  According to KOTU, a leading investment firm, which says, "We're just at the beginning of the AI revolution," and Maribel Lopez, a tech analyst, says, "AI is the only thing that matters in the tech industry. If your product doesn't have AI, it's obsolete."

Integration of AI technology drives the digital health sector

The predicted keywords for consumer technology in 2024 are "sustainability, digital health, AI, and mobility". In particular, the importance of AI in digital health is expected to grow significantly. This is due to AI's ability to rapidly analyze vast amounts of medical data, accelerating the development and delivery of personalized treatments. As a result, the simplification of repetitive tasks through AI is known to prevent burnout among medical staff. The increasingly positive perception of AI in the medical field by actual users has contributed to the steady growth of the AI-based digital health industry.

Recent survey and analysis results from the Consumer Technology Association (CTA), the organizer of CES, indicate a growing interest in digital health among Americans. Three out of four people expressing interest in digital health believe it will improve their overall well-being. In addition, 42% of U.S. adults who are familiar with AI see healthcare as the sector that will be most positively impacted by AI. According to the survey, 42% of respondents are open to the idea of AI being used for medical diagnosis, and 64% are comfortable with remote consultations with an AI physician. The integration of AI technology will drive the digital health sector toward a more personal, mobile, and accurate future, impacting the healthcare market.

AI Everywhere

In the current era of rapid AI development, artificial intelligence is revolutionizing user experiences in various fields, from solving simple problems to creative pursuits. The widespread adoption of AI goes beyond physical robots to include chips, AI-enabled hardware, and a variety of software that integrates AI technology. These AI-powered solutions are already in use or on the verge of being implemented in various industries such as IT, retail, food, agriculture, and manufacturing. The pervasive influence of AI is evident not only in self-moving physical robots but also in the integration of AI into hardware and software, marking a transformative shift in multiple industries. Highlights of some AI products include

AI gadgets that can sense your emotions, health and preferences. Bosch and NEC are showcasing their latest innovations in this area, such as a gun detection system that can alert authorities and a mobile app that can monitor your mood and stress levels.

AI chatbots that can do anything you want. OpenAI is launching a GPT Store where you can buy and sell custom chatbots that can connect to any service or platform. Whether you need a chatbot to write your essays, order your pizza, or flirt with your crush, you can find it in the GPT Store.

AI Semiconductors Powering the AI Revolution. Samsung and SK Hynix are racing to produce the fastest and most efficient chips for AI applications. Intel is leading an AI alliance with Meta, IBM, and others to secure more funding and support from the U.S. government. Intel CEO Gelsinger will deliver a keynote on how semiconductors and software are key to unlocking the full potential of AI.

AI smartphones are smarter than ever before. Samsung is expected to unveil its Galaxy S24 series, which will feature Galaxy AI, a new software that will enhance the user experience with AI capabilities. Samsung is betting on software over hardware as it faces stiff competition from other smartphone makers.

AI robots that can work alongside humans.  SJW Robotics, a Canadian startup, won the Best Innovation Award for its food-serving robots that can interact with customers and prepare meals. Hyundai and Doosan are also showcasing their robotic solutions that aim to improve human productivity and safety in various fields.

AI mobility that is greener and smarter. Hyundai will present its strategy for software-driven vehicles that use AI to optimize performance, efficiency and comfort. LG Innotek will showcase its electronic components for green mobility, such as batteries, sensors and cameras. The electric vehicle market is facing a slowdown as consumers demand more innovation and affordability.

If you want to witness the dawn of the AI era, CES 2024 is the place to be. It's also the place to be if you want to question the direction and impact of AI on our society. AI isn't just a technology, it's a culture. It's a way of thinking, living, and creating. It's a challenge and an opportunity. It's a friend and an enemy. It's up to us how we embrace it.
