What to know about CES 2024, a week of innovation, inspiration and impact

LAS VEGAS- CES 2024, the world's most influential technology event, wrapped up on January 12 after a week of showcasing the latest innovations and trends that will shape the future. The event featured more than 4,300 exhibitors, including a record-breaking 1,400 startups from around the world at Eureka Park®, the home of global innovation. CES 2024 highlighted how technology can address humanity's most pressing challenges, including climate change, healthcare, education and security.

According to Gary Shapiro, president and CEO of the Consumer Technology Association (CTA), which produces CES, the event demonstrated the importance of face-to-face interaction and collaboration in the technology industry. He also highlighted the diversity of exhibitors at CES 2024, from traditional tech giants to emerging sectors such as beauty, gaming, and sports. "I've said for more than 20 years that every company should be a tech company, and the diversity of exhibitors at CES 2024 proves it. The CES footprint and conference program spans the entire technology ecosystem," he said.

CES 2024 attracted more than 135,000 attendees from more than 150 countries, regions and territories, a 40 percent increase over last year. Of those, 60 percent were from Fortune 500 companies, demonstrating the event's high level of interest and influence. More than 5,000 global media and content creators covered the event, generating more than 25,000 pieces of media content that reached 160 billion people worldwide. CES 2024 also featured more than 1,000 speakers in over 250 conference sessions, covering topics such as artificial intelligence (AI), 5G, blockchain, digital health, smart cities, and more. In addition, CES 2024 received more than 3,000 submissions for its Innovation Awards program, a record number that included AI as a new category.

Kinsey Fabrizio, senior vice president of CES membership at CTA, said CES 2024 provided a new experience for media, executives and industry thought leaders. She noted that thousands of global brands announced new visions, products, investments and partnerships on the show floor and on the CES Conference stage. "Technology is solving global challenges, and it was great to see so many collaborations and partnerships begin here in Las Vegas to create a show where attendees meet, dream and solve," she said.

Some of the highlights and announcements from CES 2024 include

Artificial Intelligence: AI was a dominant theme at CES 2024 as companies demonstrated the immense potential of AI to improve various aspects of our lives and businesses. From voice assistants and smart home devices to autonomous vehicles and robots, AI-enabled products and services were ubiquitous at the event. 

Keynotes: 
CES 2024 featured several keynote speakers from various industries and sectors who shared their insights and announcements on the latest trends and developments in technology. Some of the keynote highlights included:

L'Oréal Group's keynote marked the first time a beauty company took center stage at CES. The company, along with partner and actress Eva Longoria, shared its vision of inclusive beauty technologies that improve lives around the world. The company also highlighted some of its new products and acquisitions, such as Perso, a smart device that creates personalized skincare, makeup and fragrance products; ModiFace, an augmented reality platform that allows users to try on different looks; and Function of Beauty, a company that offers customized hair care products.

Qualcomm's keynote focused on the power and potential of 5G, the next-generation wireless technology that promises faster speeds, lower latency, and greater connectivity. The company announced several new products and partnerships that leverage 5G, including the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1, a mobile platform that enables premium smartphone experiences; the Snapdragon 8cx Gen 3, a computing platform that delivers PC-like performance and battery life; and the Snapdragon 4800G, a gaming platform that supports cloud gaming and VR/AR applications.

Walmart's keynote highlighted the company's efforts to transform retail and commerce with technology. The company announced a new partnership with Microsoft to create a cloud-based platform that will power Walmart's operations, supply chain and customer experience. The company also revealed some of its innovations in areas such as autonomous delivery, smart stores, and sustainability.

Startups: 
CES 2024 featured more than 1,400 startups from around the world at Eureka Park, the home of global innovation. The startups represented various sectors and regions, including country pavilions from France, Italy, Israel, Japan, Korea, the Netherlands, and Ukraine. Instaglo is a company that has developed a microwave oven that can cook food in seconds using electromagnetic waves. The company claims that its product, called the Microwave Oven, can preserve the nutrients, flavor and texture of food while reducing energy consumption and waste.

NuraLogix is a company that has developed technology that can measure a user's emotions, health, and wellness using a smartphone camera. The company's app, called Anura, can analyze a user's facial blood flow and heart rate to provide insights into stress levels, mood, blood pressure, and more.

Zapp is a company that has developed a smart helmet that can protect users from head injuries and provide them with useful information.
