Daesang Corporation (Daesang) launches Sweevero, an integrated brand covering allulose and other alternative sugar categories, to capture the global market.
Since the COVID-19 pandemic, there has been a growing interest in low-calorie sweeteners with healthy sweetness as a result of the global healthy pleasure craze. In preparation for the surge in demand for alternative sugars such as allulose, Daesang built Korea's largest allulose production base at its Gunsan starch sugar plant last year and began full-scale production.
Today, the company has secured more than 50 customers, including leading domestic beverage manufacturers such as Lotte Chilsung, Dong Aotsuka, and Hite Jinro Beverage, as well as a number of customers in North America.
As a result, Daesang is launching Sweevero, an integrated brand that encompasses allulose, which is currently in production, and alternative sugars that will be launched in the future. Sweevero is a combination of the Italian word Vero, which means sweetness, and Vero, which means true.
Through the Sweevero brand, Daesang plans to accelerate its efforts in the global low-calorie alternative sugar market, both domestically and internationally. First, the company will accelerate its efforts to target the North American market, the largest market in the world, and will also explore the European market by registering novel foods in Europe in addition to new markets in Southeast Asia.
In the future, the company plans to develop allulose B2C (business-to-consumer) business through Daesang's representative food brand, Cheongwon.
