Rimac has recently extended the warranty on its Nevera hyper car battery to 8 years with unlimited mileage. This free warranty applies to all new buyers and is retroactive to vehicles already delivered. The extension provides an additional seven years of coverage for the sophisticated 120kWh liquid-cooled battery and demonstrates Rimac's confidence in its in-house designed, engineered and manufactured battery technology.
Designed to deliver 1.4MW of power, the Nevera battery meets stringent packaging, weight and performance criteria. Its H-shaped design, a departure from the flat-bottom skateboard style, prioritizes a lower seating position for the driver and passenger. As a hyper-GT, the battery is tasked with achieving both impressive long-range capabilities and fade-free performance.
To achieve these goals, the Rimac team developed lithium-manganese nickel chemistry with water-glycol cooling plates. Notable among the innovations is the placement of these cooling plates, which sandwich the cells to ensure consistent and efficient cooling throughout the pack.
This innovative design and engineering has enabled the Nevera to demonstrate a wide range of capabilities. In a remarkable event last year, the vehicle set 23 speed and power records in a single day and completed approximately 30 full-throttle acceleration runs in less than 8 hours with no noticeable degradation in performance. In addition, the Nevera has a range of 490 kilometers (WLTP) or up to 305 miles (EPA) on a single charge and can be charged at a rapid 500 kW, a speed currently supported by only a handful of public chargers.
Bugatti Rimac Commercial Director Hendrik Malinowski emphasized the significance of the extended warranty for the advanced battery: "Many mass-market electric vehicles cover their electric vehicle batteries for around 8 years, limiting mileage to around the 100,000 mark. So for us - with one of the most advanced high-performance battery packs in the world - to extend our warranty to eight years and unlimited miles is very significant.
The comprehensive 8-year warranty covers major defects in the battery pack and ensures that the battery will retain 75% of its original charge at the end of the warranty period. Rimac's limited production of Nevera is progressing rapidly at its headquarters in Croatia, with deliveries reaching customers worldwide.
