Doosan Bobcat commercializes the first hydrogen forklift in Korea to expand hydrogen mobility.
Doosan Bobcat announced on January 31 that it held a delivery ceremony for the first hydrogen forklift at its Incheon forklift factory on January 30. The ceremony was attended by Park Hyung-won, president of Doosan Bobcat Korea, and representatives from Hyundai Mobis, which co-developed the first hydrogen forklift.
Doosan Bobcat's hydrogen forklift truck No. 1 is a 3-ton model equipped with a 20 kW fuel cell and will be delivered to the Korea Zinc Onsan Smelter after testing at the Construction Machinery Research Institute. While hydrogen forklifts have been unveiled in prototype form, this is the first time Doosan Bobcat has developed a product and shipped it ready for commercialization.
"Doosan Bobcat, which started producing forklifts in Korea in 1968, has set a record for being the first company in Korea to commercialize hydrogen forklifts," said President Park. "We will actively participate in the expansion of hydrogen mobility, which utilizes hydrogen as a key future energy source for the low-carbon era."
Doosan Bobcat is in discussions with various companies and local governments to expand the deployment of hydrogen forklifts. The company aims to supply a total of more than 30 hydrogen forklifts once the certification of a 3-ton model with a 10 kW fuel cell is completed this year.
Doosan Bobcat also plans to diversify its hydrogen forklift offerings with 2-ton and 5-ton models in the future and expand its portfolio of hydrogen-based products, including a skid steer loader being developed with Doosan corporation.
