Samsung Heavy Industries announced on March 4 that it has signed a contract with an Oceania-based shipowner for the construction of one shuttle tanker.
The contract is valued at KRW 198 billion. The vessel is scheduled to be delivered to the shipowner by August 2026.
Shuttle tankers are special-purpose vessels that transport crude oil produced at offshore plants to onshore storage.
Including this contract, Samsung Heavy Industries has won a total of 18 orders worth $3.8 billion to date, fulfilling 39% of its $9.7 billion order target for the year.
"We will do our best to achieve the order target by showcasing our technological competitiveness in various ship types, including LNG carriers, ammonia carriers, and shuttle tankers," said a Samsung Heavy Industries official.
