LG Uplus announced on March 3 that it has signed an agreement with Amazon Web Services (AWS) to strengthen cooperation to maximize the use of AI.
Hwang Hyun-Sik, CEO of LG Uplus, and Kathrin Renz, Vice President of Industry at AWS, met on Feb. 27 in Barcelona, Spain, during Mobile World Congress (MWC2024) and signed a number of agreements.
The agreements include providing customer experience using the latest development capabilities of Amazon Bedrock AWS' generative AI, which provides various high-performance foundation models (FMs) from AI companies in a single API, strengthening the security of cloud platform services, and modernizing IT in core areas of the telecommunications business.
LG Uplus is promoting customer experience innovation and digital transformation (DX) to transform into a platform company through the digitalization of telecommunications. The collaboration with AWS is expected to accelerate this transformation.
In addition, we expect to significantly improve the customer experience provided through Ucube, the next-generation integrated computer network upgraded last year.
The two companies also plan to collaborate on various customer experience innovations, improve cloud security, and discover cases that utilize the latest AI technology. In addition to IT infrastructure, LG Uplus plans to spread AWS' latest design capabilities across its business areas.
"Through our collaboration with AWS, we will have the ability to apply the latest development trends, including AI, to improve customer experience and respond to customers' diverse needs more quickly," said CEO Hwang. "We expect this to further enhance our efforts to provide differentiated customer value."
