CJ Group announced on March 5 that CJ Group Vice Chairman Lee Mi-kyoung has been named a Visionary who is moving Hollywood. Lee was honored in the 2024 Hollywood Issue, a special edition of Vanity Fair, a leading U.S. entertainment magazine.
Since 1995, Vanity Fair has published the Hollywood Issue, an annual special issue that highlights Hollywood actors, directors, and other top creators every year.
"Lee is the secret weapon of the Korean Wave that has taken Hollywood by storm, from Parasite to Snowpiercer, and her goal is to bridge cultures for a richer, more diverse world," said Vanity Fair, referring to Lee as Godmother. "This year, she demonstrated her skills as executive producer of the beautiful film Past Lives, directed by Celine Song, which was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Picture."
Lee is working with Hollywood, the arts and culture industry, and the education sector to increase the sustainability of K-content, and is engaged in various activities to support creators and raise the global profile of Korean culture.
Lee is consistently named among the world's most influential people by leading global media outlets in the U.S., U.K., and elsewhere. Last December, she became the first Asian to be named one of the "100 Most Powerful Women in Entertainment" by The Hollywood Reporter for the third consecutive year. In 2022, she was named one of the BBC's 100 Women of the Year.
