On March 16th and 17th, VeChain, a leading enterprise-grade L1 public blockchain, and  EasyA,  a Web3 educational mobile app, will host a hackathon at the University of Cambridge with participation from Boston Consulting Group (BCG). The event will encourage the development of sustainable “X-2-Earn” applications housed in the new VeChain-powered circular ecosystem, VeBetterDAO, in addition to applications aimed at addressing friction points in the automotive industry.

Following the success of VeChain, EasyA, and BCG’s hackathon at Harvard last October, this next edition and future ones will focus on a specific industry. VeChain aims to collaborate with enterprises and developers to ideate sustainable solutions to pressing issues in each industry as part of its commitment to drawing real-world value from blockchain technology. The novel X-2-Earn enterprise applications will be geared toward incentivizing sustainable activity, unleashing collective impact, and driving global change, which is VeBetterDAO’s mission. Ahead of the hackathon, VeChain, EasyA, and will also host a pre-hackathon event on March 11th featuring a panel discussion on sustainable technology, a workshop, and a networking session.

WHY:

Sunny Lu, CEO at VeChain said: “The hackathon at the University of Cambridge will spur the development of VeBetterDAO, a sustainable ecosystem designed to equip developers with the tools and resources they need to create use cases geared toward empowering enterprises and individuals to adopt more sustainable practices. By creating solutions that will reward users with VeBetterDAO’s native $B3TR token, developers will be the drivers of global change, acting alongside the enterprises and individuals they’re building applications for.”

Dr. Bernhard Kronfellner, Partner and co-lead of the digital asset and blockchain group at Boston Consulting Group, said: “The key to enterprise blockchain adoption is twofold: the applications need to be designed to address problems inherent to different industries, and they need to incorporate sustainability, as the latter is becoming a top priority for businesses today. In the hackathon we’re encouraging developers to leverage VeChain’s sustainable infrastructure for sustainable activity on one track and address specific issues in the automotive industry on the other. In doing so, we’re creating optimal conditions for rising talent to build applications with tangible impact.”

Pre-Hackathon Workshop Detail:
When: Monday, March 11th from 7-9 pm GMT
Where: Old Divinity School, St John's Street Cambridge CB2 1TP United Kingdom
Who: VeChain, EasyA, the Cambridge University Technology and Enterprise Club, Cambridge University Entrepreneurs, Cambridge Blockchain Society, and Bridges for Enterprise

The event schedule details are as follows:
