Doosan Enerbility announced on March 11 that it has signed a contract with SEPCO-3 to supply equipment for the Taiba Integrated Cycle Power Plant and Qasim Combined Cycle Power Plant in Saudi Arabia.
Under the contract, Doosan Enerbility will supply one 650MW steam turbine and one generator each for Taiba 1 Integrated Cycle Power Plant and Qasim 1 Combined Cycle Power Plant. The contract is valued at approximately 150 billion won.
The two plants are located approximately 200 kilometers north of Jeddah and 200 kilometers northwest of Riyadh, respectively. Both plants will have a capacity of 1,800 MW and will be built by 2027. The developer is a consortium of ACWA Power and Saudi Electricity Company (SEC). SEPCO-3, which has signed a supply agreement with Doosan Enerbility, will participate in the project as engineering, procurement and construction (EPC).
"We are expanding our orders not only in Korea but also in overseas gas power markets such as the Middle East and Asia, including Saudi Arabia," said Sohn Seung-woo, BGP, Power Services, Doosan Enerbility. "In particular, we will strengthen our market penetration as more than 15 GW of combined cycle power plants are expected to be ordered in Saudi Arabia over the next five years."
Doosan Enerbility is supplying gas turbines, steam turbines, generators and other cycle equipment to a number of gas power projects in Korea and abroad. In Korea, the company recently signed contracts to supply cycle units to Andong Combined Cycle Power Plant, Gongju Combined Cycle Power Plant, and Goseong Combined Cycle Power Plant, and overseas to Fujairah F3, UAE, and Syrdaria 2 in Uzbekistan.
