CJ Olive Networks will participate in the establishment of a global collaboration-based Fourth Industrial Revolution (4IR) cluster in Wonju, South Korea.

Wonju City is promoting the creation of a global base city through cooperation with domestic and foreign companies to revitalize the stream ecosystem of the mining industry and secure domestic competitiveness.

The main goal is to help secure resources through unmanned mining by integrating the latest ICT technology and hardware in mines, and to support commercialization, R&D, education, and overseas exports. Wonju City expects to revitalize the local economy and secure future growth engines by creating the Stream 4IR cluster.

The signing ceremony of the business agreement between CJ Olive Networks and Wonju City was held on March 15 at Wonju City Hall. CJ Olive Networks CEO Yoo Young-sang, Mayor Won Kang-soo of Wonju City, and participating companies in the Stream 4IR cluster project attended the ceremony.

Under the agreement, CJ Olive Networks will cooperate in six areas to create a successful Stream 4IR cluster in Wonju, including ICT infrastructure and education services for the Digital Innovation Center, ICT infrastructure and control and operation services for the Physical Innovation Center, ICT infrastructure and solution development for the Device Innovation Center, exploring ways to utilize the aviation logistics base at Wonju Airport, aviation maintenance smart services, digital mobility services, and public and private cloud services.

CJ Olive Networks will provide the e-um 5G specialized network and related ICT infrastructure to three innovation centers: the Digital Innovation Center, which will commercialize the acquired resources; the Physical Innovation Center, which will provide stream-based hardware training and remote adjustment; and the Device Innovation Center, which will verify and research AIoT devices and solutions for stream 4IR implementation.

It also supports the demonstration of product development of AIoT hardware and software for 5G specialized networks.

As an ultra-high-speed, ultra-low-latency, ultra-capacity network, e-um 5G enables real-time on-site coal mine video checks, identification of abnormalities through AI algorithms, remote control of mining machines, and precise control.

Additionally, cooperation will extend to the digital mobility service business to remotely monitor and support the operation of farm machinery and equipment for small villages in Gangwon Province, where it is difficult to smoothly utilize light and medium-sized equipment required for construction due to the declining population.
