SingularityNet, a global leader in the development of Artificial General Intelligence (AGI) with human-like intelligence and the ability to learn on its own, has decided to distribute affordable humanoid robots around the world and has established a company called MindChildren to do so.
MindChildren will complete the development of a prototype "Mindbot", a humanoid robot that can be used in homes, hospitals, and offices to educate students, assist with household chores, and help the elderly, by August 2024, and will begin mass production in Korea and start selling it globally in 2025.
AI Mindbot (CEO Park Young-sook) to propel the project was founded in February, and IVS (CEO Bae Young-hoon), a company specializing in AI video and sound analysis, will carry out all these projects in Korea.
Meanwhile, "Grace," a state-of-the-art humanoid robot created by Hanson Robotics and the SingularityNet, will return to Korea on March 25 after an upgrade in the United States. "Grace" is the younger sister of "Sophia," which was introduced to the world 10 years ago and boasts about 1 billion views.
The upgraded Grace robot can draw and sing, answer questions like a jack-of-all-trades using ChatGPT Gemini, and can communicate through an AI necklace even when it is more than 10 meters away, and can act as a teacher and housekeeper.
"Grace" has already been purchased by Professor Park Young-sook in 2021 and trained in more than 20 languages, including Korean, and has appeared in many broadcasts and media outlets. Chris Kudla, CEO of MindChidren, the company that designed "Grace" and "Mindbot," which have garnered a great deal of attention for their remarkable human-like appearance, will host a presentation on "Grace" and "Mindbot" on March 28 and 29 at the IVS headquarters in Seoul.
Through this transfer of humanoid robot technology, AI Mindbot and IVS will have their own production capacity and development capabilities in the medium to long term, and will promote a full-scale humanoid robot business.
The humanoid robot market is expected to become a USD 20 billion (some 26.6 trillion won) market in North America alone, with an average annual growth rate of about 25%.
