Samsung Electronics announced the launch of its highly anticipated 3D Map View feature, originally showcased at CES 2024.

This feature is now accessible worldwide to all users with SmartThings access, marking a significant advancement in home management technology.

Map View revolutionizes the way users manage their homes by converting real floor plans into virtual representations within the SmartThings app. This enables users to effortlessly oversee their connected devices and make adjustments to lighting, temperature, air quality, and energy consumption from anywhere at any time.

With the proliferation of connected devices in homes globally, Map View simplifies smart home management by providing users with a comprehensive overview of their entire home in real time. Gone are the days of searching for individual devices; Map View presents users with a holistic view of their home and updates dynamically as new devices are added.

Unlike its predecessor, which offered a 2D model limited to homes with provided floor plans, the updated 3D Map View leverages Spatial AI technology embedded in Samsung devices, such as the Bespoke Jet Bot™, utilizing LiDAR sensors to accurately measure and map a home's layout. This enhancement allows users to better visualize the spatial layout of their homes in three dimensions.

Furthermore, the feature boasts an improved filter function, enabling more efficient monitoring and control of essential devices. Additionally, by incorporating AI characters unveiled at CES 2024, Samsung aims to deliver a personalized and user-friendly smart service experience by the year's end.

Accessible via the SmartThings app on Android, iOS mobile devices, and TVs, Map View will also extend its functionality to additional hubs like Family Hub™ refrigerators in the first half of the year. Originally launched in Korea and the United States, the feature is now available globally to SmartThings users.

“Samsung is constantly working to enable customers to control their home devices without any inconvenience at any time and place, and Map View is the result of these efforts,” said Seungbeom Choi, Head of Device Platform Center at Samsung Electronics. “We will continue to introduce a variety of relevant services and features so our customers can enjoy optimal smart home experiences with a better life.”

Samsung is also collaborating with construction firms to expand Map View's application beyond homes to apartments and office spaces, aiming to create smarter environments worldwide. These expansions will include tailored user experiences for large screens, benefiting B2B operators with signage, as well as Quick Control for easy access to key functions.
