SK On, an electric vehicle battery manufacturer based in South Korea, has officially announced a significant stride in its partnership with the renowned Italian luxury sports carmaker, Ferrari.
The ceremony, held at the SK Seorin Building in Seoul on March 26, saw the presence of key figures from both SK On and Ferrari. Among them were SK On's Chief Executive Officer Lee Seok-hee, Ferrari's Chief Executive Officer Benedetto Vigna, Ferrari's Chief Research and Development Officer Ernesto Lasalandra, as well as SK On's Chief Commercial Officer Sung Min-suk and Chief Technology Officer Rhee Jang-weon.
Outlined in the MoU are plans for the two entities to leverage their respective expertise, fostering an exchange of insights and bolstering technological collaboration. This strategic partnership is poised to pave the way for SK On and Ferrari to delve into uncharted territories, exploring fresh opportunities and innovative solutions to drive advancements in cell technology.
SK On's role as Ferrari's exclusive battery supplier underscores their longstanding collaboration. Since 2019, SK On has been at the forefront, providing battery cells for Ferrari's most formidable models.
This partnership commenced with the introduction of Ferrari's inaugural range supercar and plug-in hybrid electric vehicle (PHEV), the SF90 Stradale, alongside its convertible variant, the SF90 Spider. Furthermore, SK On's batteries have powered subsequent Ferrari releases, including the 296 GTB and the 296 GTS PHEVs launched in 2021 and 2022, respectively.
