Xavis (www.xavis.co.kr) is one of the top producers of X-ray test equipment and food substance detection equipment in Korea. Established in 2002, the company has focused on manufacturing X-ray test equipment with domestic technology, which eventually led to replacing 60 percent of the Korean market with domestic products - 40 percent of which is produced by Xavis. The company has been maintaining the top sales in the food substance detection equipment market in Korea for six years now, and enjoyed publicity as one of their machines has been used for detecting pieces of American beef bones, a subject of controversy for the last few years. In 2007, Xavis won a Minister of Science and Technology award for promoting the use of X-ray technology and was selected as Seongnam Star Enterprise last year.

Go global

The company is focusing on expanding exports from this year, with a goal to increase overseas sales to more than 50 percent, from less than 20 percent last year, of the total annual sales. If the export maintains the current momentum, the company expects to see more than 80 percent of growth in exports and a total of 11 billion won. For this, the company hired six people for overseas sales among the 11 total employees in the sales department, as well as three team manager-level staff members who have good foreign language skills such as English, Japanese, and Chinese. There are now over 20 overseas sales agencies in China, the US, Brazil, Japan, and newly-added countries in Southeast Asia such as the Philippines and Indonesia as well as India and Eastern Europe. The results are already beginning to materialize as around 45 percent of the sales in the first quarter this year, estimated to be about 3 billion won, came from the overseas markets.

Relentless development for new technologies

The company has released a new version of their main products, namely, printed circuit board (PCB), X-ray test equipment for semiconductor, and food substance detection equipment. Launched earlier this year targeting both the Korean market and overseas, XSCAN-N160 DCT is X-ray test equipment that allows two types of CT. Apart from the general CT scan, the machine provides oblique CT scan that is used for assessing the internal flaws and overall product defects of electric parts. This model has the highest precision level with the resolution of 0.5 ㎛ among the X-ray test equipment available in the market. Having received three patents for the technologies adopted in this product, Xavis is planning to launch the model around May after testing it in the Korean market first. Fscan-2080 is also one of the latest products and was released simultaneously in Korea and overseas markets. Unlike existing similar products that require different settings for different purposes, this model is equipped with artificial intelligence that automatically recognizes the test subject and then begins programming. It is also easy to install and detach, and the components including the belt are easy to clean as well.

XAVIS Co., Ltd. has been awarded the KOTRA Seal of Excellence since 2009.
