SEOUL, KOREA ---The average number of bones in a typical adult human body is 206. Each of them has a critical role and cannot be overlooked; as bone functions as the mechanical support of our human body, provides protection of soft organs, is the source of blood production from bone marrow, and they are capable of self-repair and are elastic and strong. When severely damaged, they can be replaced or repaired with several substitutes and technologies, including autografts, allografts, or various ceramics or metallic alloys. However, for both autografts and allografts, there is always a possibility that the human body would reject the new material.

Leading Manufacturer’s Advanced Products

Kyoungwon Medical comes in to take care of such unfortunate side effects with the introduction of a synthetic bone material called “Polybone.” This bone substitute claims to be a revolutionary 100% synthetic invention with a B-TCP composite that helps bones grow, while a Polyphosphate aids the reconstruction of target bones, by providing micro-porous particles that can permit blood vessels and bones to take root around cavities and provide a scaffolding where new bones can grow. There are all three types: Powder type, Block type, and Granule type.

For the Tyche Spinal Fixation System, there is the Tyche Pedicle Screw System as a pedicle screw for treating severe spondylolisthesis (Grade 3 and 4) of the L5-S1 vertebra in adult patients, which can offer immobilization and stabilization of spinal segments as an adjunct to fusion in the treatment. The system’s low profile enables a 40 degree variable angular movement and simple 3D corrections, and as it is self-tapping to minimize neural damage and maximize pull-out strength, it also has a simple locking method which enhances its performance. Its Circumferential locking is reliable and offers mechanical stability. And the Tyche Lumbar Expandable Cage is currently the only expandable cage system, and using the Tyche Cervical Cage is simple and efficient.

The Bone Cement “Optimum”is an Acrylic Bone Cement based on PMMA, with a mid-level of viscosity and a relatively lower exothermic reaction, which can be used with optimal results in various surgical operations, for example, it is for the attachment of implants to the bone, filling cavities, etc. Optimum‘s low degree of exothermic reaction can prevent damage to bones or other surrounding tissues. Its high compressive strength 95MPa, 12~15 minutes of ideal set-up time, and long molding time of 10 minutes are distinctive. For more product information, please visit www.kyungwonmedical.com
