Benjamin Lee, an assistant manager by occupation in Jamsil, Seoul. Today is the day when he had a date to take a drive with Min-Hae, a young woman he met through the Internet. Expecting to get good marks from her by introducing stunning landscapes and restaurants, he drove in high humor to pick her up at her home in Mokdong. When they left, Olympic Road was so crowed that they couldn't move an inch. "Now is just the time when we need the help of the telematics service," he said. Switching on a terminal in his car, Benjamin searched for where there might be a detour. "Use the outer ring road," came back the message. As the terminal in his car showed the way, they were able to go to Kwangwha Island without a stop by taking the outer ring road that goes through Gimpo IC. Thanks to the telematics service, Benjamin and his companion arrived at Kwanghwa Island via a road that bypassed a town. Being somewhat hungry, they wished to locate a suitable restaurant for lunch. She in particular wished to try a famous restaurant in Kwanghwa Island. "Let me see!," she mused, "where might this restaurant be in Kwanghwa Island" Benjamin began to search for neighboring restaurants through a terminal in his car again. After they searched for various eating houses such as fish soup restaurants, knife-cut noodles restaurants, and steamed short ribs eating houses, what she eventually chose was a crab restaurant. She wished to taste fresh crab, which was freshly caught in the West Sea. "Good," said Benjamin. "Let's go!" Of course, they received help from the telematics service to find their way to there, also. The moment he bit into his crab and white boiled rice, Benjamin suddenly remembered he had left his apartment without turning off his coffee maker. "I forgot to switch it off," he explained to his friend. "There is no choice but to use the telematics service once again." Benjamin then turned off the coffee maker at his home after connecting to the home network system by using his telematics terminal. "Phew! Now I can relax," he said. After finishing their meal, Benjamin and Min-Hae drove to Jeondeung temple. When they returned to their car again after taking photographs of each other in of the front of the temple, they were amazed to see someone drive into the front off-side wheel of their car and then drive off at high speed! Unfazed, Benjamin pushed an emergency call service button on the terminal in his car. Immediately, he was connected directly to the telematics center that dispatched a team to replace the damaged wheel. In less than 10 minutes the team was there on the spot and in no time, Benjamin's car had a new front wheel! While they were enjoying an aromatic green tea in a sequestered cafe by the sea and watching a beautiful sunset, Benjamin's cell phone rang. "This is director Park," barked an authoritarian voice. "You'd better take care of Czech business right now. Check your e-mail for details!" Benjamin felt distinctly unwell at this turn of events, but couldn't put the matter off because it was urgent business. Through the terminal in the car, Benjamin checked his e-mail and sent a reply to the Czech buyer. "Without the telematics service," he wondered, "how else could I send an e-mail from a cafe by the sea" On the highway as they were driving back to Seoul, they were rear-ended by another car to the great alarm of Min-Hae. After Benjamin set her at ease, he got out to look at the damage and speak to the offending driver of the other car. He then pushed a button on the terminal to alert the center of the accident and the fact that there was now a hazard on the highway. To his surprise, the police arrived at the site of the accident plus representatives from his insurance company together with a replacement car and a tow truck! "Don't be so surprised," said the motorcycle policeman. "We got word of what had happened through an emergency call from the telematics service center." Exclaimed Benjamin: "Oh really I didn't know there was such a function!" As they drove home, Min-Hae thought to herself: "Hmmm..Benjamin is a pretty capable guy." "After everything that's happened, I really owe a lot to the telematics service," thought Benjamin while listening to music that the telematics service provider delivers in real-time.
