Brazilian President accents Brazil's business opportunities President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva, Brazil visited Korea at the end of May to attend the 6th Global Forum on Reinventing Government held in Seoul from May 24 through May 27. During his Korea visit period, the President held an investment seminar regarding Brazil's business as well as investment opportunity and also "Carnival Trilogy" a music performance featuring Marcelo Bratke and Grupo Charanga performances at the Lotte Hotel Seoul on May 24. Seoul diplomatic corps celebrates the Proclamation of the Republic of Italy To commemorate the country's Anniversary of the Proclamation of the Republic on June 2, H.E.Francesco Rausi, Italian ambassador to Korea held a celebratory function at his residence, which the Seoul diplomatic corps attended in large numbers. Among the attendees were Austrian ambassador, Wilhelm M. Donko and Dominican ambassador, Hector Galvan. Korean Air chairman Cho Yang-ho, Poong San Group chairman and CEO, Jin Roy Ryu, SKC chairman Choi Shin-won celebrated Italian National Day by sending their congratulations. The embassy of Italy also added to the amusement by preparing a spectacle entitled "Concerto/Spettacolo". International Congress on Advances in Nuclear Power Plants The International Congress on Advances in Nuclear Power Plants was held in Seoul from May 15 through May 19 in cooperation with the IAEA and the 20th KAIF/KNS Annual Conference. Chairman Han Joon-ho, Conference chairman Han Joon-ho said that the potential of nuclear technology in electricity generation and non-electricity fields present a challenge for future next generations. This challenge will be an opportunity to maintain human well being, he said. Norway commemorates Seoul Embassy 25th Anniversary To commemorate the country's Constitution Day on May 17 as well as to congratulate the Embassy's 25th anniversary of its establishment in Seoul, the Royal Norwegian Embassy held a diplomatic function at the Seoul Millennium Hilton on May 17. The Seoul diplomatic corps, a whole raft of Norwegian businessmen in Seoul and domestic businessmen attended the function to celebrate the Embassy's 25th anniversary with the staff of the Royal Norwegian Embassy. The 30th Asian Racing Conference 2005 The 30th Asian Racing Conference 2005 in Seoul was held from May 20 to 27 in Seoul. Korea Racing Association, chairman and CEO Lee, Woo-Jae, said, "As the sole horse racing authority, the Korea Racing Association (KRA) has established a strong foundation on which the horse racing industry in Korea can flourish. Celebrating more than 80 years of commitment to horse racing, the KRA is making every effort to strengthen this basis by planning for the many more challenges coming our way." Amiga heralds a new start with its Grand Opening The Amiga Hotel held its Grand Opening on May 25. In its Grand Opening Ceremony held on May 26, many raft of Seoul's hoteliers including general managers from the Lotte Hotel Seoul as well as Novotel Gangnam, and the Seoul diplomatic corps attended. World Association of Newspapers' Congress in Seoul The World Association of Newspapers' Congress in Seoul was held from May 29 through June 1. Gavin K. O'Reilly, the incoming president of the World Association of Newspapers, explained that WAN global conferences on advertising, editorial and marketing issues have more than tripled in size in only two years, as thousands of newspaper executives chose to learn first hand how the global industry is fast-evolving and strengthening. The 6th Global Forum on Reinventing Government The 6th Global Forum on Reinventing Government was held from May 24 through May 27 in Seoul. Its plenary sessions included government innovation and governance; changing role of the state in the governance paradigm; democratic governance and social integration; market economy and corporate governance; local governance and participatory democracy; and civil society and participatory governance.
