BCN, SPAIN — The GSMA Mobile World Congress is the world’s largest mobile phone trade show. This annual exhibition currently takes place in Barcelona in February and will finish in March. Phone manufacturers such as Samsung and LG will make an appearance and reveal the hottest mobile devices and services of the year. The annual attendance is generally between 50,000-60,000 people, with representation from more than 200 countries from across the globe.
Some phone makers have already announced their MWC line. Windows 8 Tablets are expected to turn heads at this spectacular event. In addition, the ZTE Company has announced that they will introduce eight new phones. These eight new devices are superior in power with advanced capabilities and a sleek design. ZTE also hopes to become a top three handset provider by 2015.
Mr. He Shiyou, Executive Vice President and Head of the Terminals Division at ZTE stated “There is no doubt that this year’s Mobile World Congress will again see some exciting device launches. The new devices from ZTE will demonstrate how ZTE is without doubt among an elite group of handset providers as next generation telecommunications networks roll out globally. ZTE returns at least ten percent of its revenues back into R&D to ensure that it sustains its position as a true market innovator – and we’re counting down to being able to showcase this to the world’s mobile industry.”
Gartner analyst and researcher CP stated on behalf of Microsoft, “Consumerism is definitely a big trend, and certainly the trend of BYOD is absolutely crucial at the moment. But will it be in Barcelona You’ll probably see it more in the management side, the management of the device and the apps. In that respect, you’ll see carriers talk about it, plus the likes of Box.net.” She goes on to say “Windows 8 is so close right now, so maybe vendors are waiting for that. The Windows 8 Consumer Preview is probably one of the biggest things at the show. I do wonder if people are waiting to see what the iPad 3 and Windows 8 are like before jumping onto the Ice Cream Sandwich."
