Company sees profit breakpoint this year With an RFID & Mobile SoC catchphrase for Ubiquitous Technology, 3ALogics Inc. (www.3ALogics.com) whose key business scope includes RFID Reader chip development, RFID tag chip development, Mobile Phone SoC development, and RFID System & solution circulation (SAMSys), is poised to develop into a worldwide specialized RFID chip firm based on RFID advanced technology. The company completed RFID chip design for cellular phone and constructed a mass production system for chips which is possible to apply to the short-term market. In fact, 3ALogics is assessed to possess RFID advanced technology as the company secures ISO 14443 A/B, 15693 support chip development unique technology, RFID chip development technology for cellular phone, RFID whole frequency design technology (13.56MHz, 433MHz, UHF), and RFID constituent technology (Anti-Collision, Antenna, RF, low electricity design, ADC/DAC) etc. CEO of 3ALogics, Lee Pyeong-Han, said on the occasion of the RFID/USN Korea 2005 (International Radio Frequency Identification/Ubiquitous Sensor Network Exhibition & Conference 2005) that he believes there is no rival to compare with the company at home and 3ALogics' products are not inferior to Philips of the Netherlands, a leader in this market globally. The CEO who explains that 3ALogics has participated already in several RFIDassociated exhibitions such as RFID China 2005/Beijing, CommunicAsia 2005/Singapore, ACM 2005/Malaysia, and SEK 2005 to sound out the marketplace, he noted that the overseas market's response appeared to be that 3ALogic's RFID Reader chip integration brand has taken the lead in terms of performance or price competitiveness compared with Philips etc. With excellent price competitiveness, low electricity consumption design, and Multi-Protocol, 3ALogics TRH031M RFID Reader Chip shows following features: *supports ISO/IEC 14443 Type A, Type B and ISO/IEC 15693 standards, *low power architecture, *internal oscillator buffer to connect 13.56 MHz quartz, supports SPI-compatible serial interface, supports unique card detection function for low power consumption application, programmable ASK modulation rate from 85 to 100%, programmable transmission current drivability up to 120mA, and supports Icode and tag-it protocol. Lee, who forecasted that the company's profit breakpoint will be attained at the end of the year, said that 3ALogics is securing technology manpower whose SoC design experience is abundant and is constructing a stable FOUNDRY environment plus taking an active part in NFC Forum as a member of the RFID international standardization organization. In this international NFC Forum (www.nfc-forum.org), RFID chip for mobile terminal international standardization as well as the technology standard enactment group, Samsung Electronics, LG Electronics, ETRI (Electronics & Telecommunications Research Institute) are active as members plus 3ALogics. Concerning the RFID market outlook, CEO Lee predicted that the 13.56MHz market would be mainstream by 2007 and since 2007 UHF-based Reader chip market is expected to grow rapidly, adding that the mobile RFID phone market is expected to grow speedily as from 2006 in Korea. In that respect, he explained that 3ALogics' TRH031M would be wellplaced in terms of expanding its market share in the years to come with technological differentiation elements which are very necessary for door lock companies as well as Reader manufacturers for cellular. Following Reader Chip Total Solution development, Tag Chip Total Solution development, RFID chip development for cellular phone (13.56MHz/NFC) in 2005 in the case of 13.56MHz, 3ALogics is planning to develop Tag/Reader solution application system next year according to its R&D strategy. As R&D strategy regarding 433MHz, the company is developing a Tag/Reader Solution application system as well in 2006 in the case of 433MHz following Tag Chip Solution development as well as Reader Chip development this year. In the case of UHF, Lee explains that 3ALogics will develop Tag/Reader Solution as well as chips for cellular phones (UHF) next year following its Passive Tag Chip development and Reader Chip development this year.
