The 2014 PyeongChang Olympic Winter Games Bid Committee has named Kim Na-mi, a former member of Korean national ski team, an honorary ambassador for its bid to host the 2014 Winter Olympics.
Kim, who currently serves as the international affairs director of the Korea Ski Instructors Association, is the first Korean woman athlete to have taken part in the World Cup ski games. Aside from leaving a distinct mark as an athlete who has scored 46 tops out of 74 national competitions, she has also worked as an advertising model for such sportswear brands as Jeil's Rapido and Youngone's Goldwin in addition to the Japanese cosmetics brand Kao.
On her appointment as an honorary ambassador on Jan. 11, Kim, who is also a director of the Biathlon Union of Korea and a Snowboard Committee member of the Korea Ski Association, said, "As my affiliation with Gangwondo province goes back to my childhood years, and as I am a former skier, in particular, I will do my best to help Pyeongchang host the Winter Olympics."
Kim, who has lived in Austria for about 10 years, is fluent in German and joins the lineup of honorary envoys that include such celebrities as the acclaimed Korean soprano Sumi Jo and fashion designer Andre Kim.
Presently, a total of 34 celebrities are working as honorary envoys in a bid to host the games in Gangwondo province. |
