The Copyright Commission for Deliberation and Conciliation has decided to map out a comprehensive plan for the use of copyrights by the end of September. The plan calls for integrating and offering all information related to copyrights of all cultural contents, including music, movies, broadcasting and publications. Ahead of this, the Ministry of Culture and Tourism added articles concerning establishment of the copyright information center and the copyright certification business to the copyright law now in the process of revision. If a copyright integration management system is built, a businessman hoping to use copyright can easily acquire the right of use through the integrated system without making individual contacts with copyright holders. Accordingly, the system will be a turning point for activation of the copyright market. If all information databases about copyrights in Korea are built and they are linked with overseas copyright databases, Korea's exports of cultural contents are expected to increase sharply. The copyright integration management system is an indispensable basic infrastructure for activation of distribution of digital contents, an official of the copyright commission said.
