Oh Ji-chul, new chairman of Korean Cable TV Association (KCTA), said on March 21 that KCTA will place first priority on customer service in an era of digital broadcasting and communication convergence.
Noting that he is now grasping the overall business of KCTA, the newly appointed chairman said, "The convergence of broadcasting and communications is the flow of an era, so I will seek effective ways to cope with this trend with the cable business circle."
Oh said that KCTA will think about people's interest ahead of the profits of KCTA although KCTA is an organization seeking profits.
On the IPTV issue, he said, "Although some people assert that IPTV is not broadcasting, I think that it is a general wire broadcasting legally. As IPTV is a general wire broadcasting likewise cable TV, IPTV should be placed under the same regulations." Chairman Oh once served as director general of the Cultural Industry Bureau of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism and Vice Minister of Culture and Tourism.
