GYEONGGI, KOREA – Under the theme of ‘Smart IT Convergence Technology and its Prospect’, the inauguration ceremony of Gyeonggi Information Industry Agency (GIIA) and autumn seminar kicked off at Seongnam Industry Promotion Agency on November 26th. During the seminar, participants discussed diverse issues including smart start-ups, the latest technology trends, and the government’s R&D direction in 2013. As an invited speaker, Heajung Chung, a professor at Pyeongtaek University spoke on ‘Preparation for IT technology change’. Dae-hyun Lee, PD of the Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism presented the topic of ‘Current situation and prospects of cultural technology’. Seok-kyoo Shin, a director general at Software Quality Evaluation Center of TTA (Telecommunications Technology Association) talked about ‘Korean software industry and plans to strengthen its competitiveness’. In a keynote speech, Dr. Tae-jong Jang spoke on the ‘Secret of Invention: Creation techniques of a strong patent’. In the welcoming speech, Jun-yeong Choi, a president of GIIA said that “the GIIA has played an essential part in spreading awareness of ubiquitous technology throughout politics, economy, society, and culture within Gyeonggi Province. In the future, we are aiming to foster new business and projects in collaboration with industry and academics to lead the Korean ICT industry.”
