SHANDONG, CHINA - Doosan Infracore Shangdong Co., Ltd. (DISD), a Chinese subsidiary of Doosan Infracore, announced on January 23 that it has set up a wheel loader R&D center inside its Muping factory in Yantai in Shandong province.
Wheel loader is construction equipment designed to move soil, sand, or aggregate in construction sites or mines. DISD invested 11 billion won to establish the R&D center, a five-story building with a floor space of 7,953 square meters.
The R&D center is equipped with a variety of state-of-the-art facilities, including power train and hydraulic testing laboratories and 3D precision measuring laboratories. The R&D center is also housing a showroom for the latest wheel loader technologies, plus an audiovisual reference library.
Doosan Infracore plans to develop five new wheel loader models this year through the R&D center, aimed at expanding its export outlets toward the Middle East and Africa. Doosan Infracore launched into the Chinese wheel loader market in 2009.

두산인프라코어, 중국 휠로더 R&D센터 준공
두산인프라코어는 중국법인인 두산공정기계유한공사(DISD)가 23일 중국 산둥성 옌타이시 무핑구 공장 내에 휠로더 연구개발(R&D)센터(사진)를 준공했다고 발표했다.
휠로더는 토목공사 현장이나 광산 등에서 흙, 모래, 골재 등을 옮기는데 사용하는 장비다. R&D센터는 총 110억원을 투자해 지상 5층, 연면적 7953㎡ 규모로 만들어졌다. 파워트레인 및 유압 시험실과 3차원 정밀측정실 등 첨단 연구시설을 갖췄다. 휠로더 기술전시관과 시청각 관람실도 마련했다. 두산인프라코어는 R&D센터를 통해 올해 5기종의 신제품을 선보일 예정이다. 제품 경쟁력을 높여 중국 시장을 공략하고 중동과 아프리카 등지로 수출을 확대한다는 전략이다. 두산인프라코어는 2009년 세계 최대로 꼽히는 중국 휠로더 시장에 진출했다.
두산인프라코어 관계자는 “중국에 진출한 해외 업체 가운데 휠로더 R&D센터를 짓기는 이번이 처음”이라며 “맞춤형 제품 개발 등 으로 고객 요구에 대한 신속한 대응이 가능해졌다”고 말했다.
