Seoul, Korea - Telecoms have started to test Galaxy S4 for its compatibility to their mobile telecom network.
Considering that the new mobile phones are introduced to the market after a month’s network compatibility test, the launch of much talked about sequel is likely to happen next month.
The telecom companies have received the test model of Galaxy S4 from Samsung and started to test it on the 12th. They did not confirm the exact date of launch, but hinted that the D-day will be somewhere in April.
Samsung provided so-called ‘lunch box phone,’ the new model awaiting its premier in a disguise, to the telecoms for the network compatibility test. The insiders say that Galaxy S4 will support only the LTE service while its prequel for SK Telecom came in two versions for 3G and 4G services. They also anticipated that the new model will come with BigLittle Octa-Core application processor and other latest features such as Floating Touch, a non-contact touch recognition, and Eye Scroll, the facial recognition. For the display, the insiders predicted that Green Phosphor LED with power efficiency 25% greater than OLED will be used.

12일 이동통신사는 최근 삼성전자로부터 갤럭시S4 망 연동용 시험폰을 받아 네트워크 테스트에 돌입했다. 이동통신 3사는 아직 구체적인 출시 날짜가 확정되지 않았지만 망 연동 테스트 일정 등을 감안하면 4월 출시가 유력하다고 입을 모았다.
삼성전자는 외관 디자인을 감춘 일명 `도시락폰`을 통신사에 지급하고 망연동 테스트를 진행 중이다. 갤럭시S4는 LTE 서비스만 지원할 것으로 알려졌다. 지난해 삼성전자는 SK텔레콤에서 3G 모델 `갤럭시S3`를 출시했는데 갤럭시S4는 LTE 전용 모델만 나온다.
14일 미국 뉴욕 라디시티 뮤직홀에서 공개 예정인 갤럭시S4는 빅리틀 옥타코어 AP에 비접촉 터치 방식인 플로팅 터치와 안면인식(아이스크롤 기능) 등이 반영될 것으로 예상된다. OLED는 기존보다 전력 효율이 25% 개선된 그린 폴레드(GREEN PHOLED:녹색 인광물질 채택) 기술이 탑재될 전망이다.
갤럭시S4 출시가 임박하면서 이미 전략 신제품을 내놓은 LG전자와 팬택은 비상이 걸렸다.

LG전자 관계자는 “옵티머스 G 프로 판매 속도가 지금까지 출시된 LG전자 스마트폰 중 가장 빠르다”며 “선명한 풀HD 화질에 편의성을 강화한 UX, 디자인, LTE 기술로 승부한다”고 말했다.
팬택 관계자는 “출시 후 하루 3000대가 개통되며 인기를 끌고 있다”며 “6인치급 풀HD 화질에 합리적인 가격으로 소비자들의 선택을 받고 있다”고 강조했다.
