Seoul, Korea - Samsung Medison announced on Thursday that it is participating in Korea International Medical and Hospital Equipment Show 2013 (KIMES 2013) together with NeuroLogica, its newly acquired subsidiary.
KIMES is Korea’s largest medical healthcare exhibition with 1,000 exhibitors from 30 countries and 60,000 visitors.
Samsung brought all of its medical device line-up to the show, including digital X-ray, ultrasonic scanning apparatus and in-vitro diagnosis devices. NeuroLogica, an American medical device maker Samsung acquired last January also participated in the exhibition with its portable CT, to show how serious Samsung is about the medical device industry.
The main display at Samsung Electronics’ booth was its digital X-ray with the latest features, such as Soft-Handling function that adopted robotic technology. LABGEO, an in-vitro diagnosis was also displayed. The Samsung’s latest IVD can test 16 clinical chemistry categories within 7 minutes by a simple blood-gathering process.
Samsung Medison featured its ultrasonic scanning apparatus, as well as an advanced ultrasonic diagnosis device that comes with LED monitors.
Sooin Cho, the head of Samsung Electronics’ medical device business division and the CEO of Samsung Medison, commented to the press, “Samsung will assert its determination of bringing a new value to medical diagnostics environment at this exhibition.”
삼성전자, 삼성메디슨과 뉴로로지카 함께 국제의료기기전 총출동
삼성전자 자회사 삼성메디슨은 최근 인수한 뉴로로지카와 함께 `국제의료기기&병원설비전시회(KIMES 2013)`에 참가했다고 21일 밝혔다.
KIMES는 30여개국에서 1000개 기업들이 참여하고 6만여명의 관람객이 다녀가는 국내 최대 규모의 의료•건강관리 전문 전시회다.
삼성전자는 디지털 엑스레이, 초음파 영상진단기, 체외진단기 등 20여종의 의료기기 전 제품군을 전시했다. 지난 1월 인수한 미국 뉴로로지카의 이동형 컴퓨터 단층촬영(CT) 장비도 내놓고, 의료진단 시장의 확장에 대한 의지를 내비쳤다.
삼성전자 부스에서는 로봇기술을 접목한 소프트 핸들링 기능 등 첨단기술을 적용한 엑스레이 장비(XGEO GC80)를 전면에 전시했다. 간단한 채혈을 거쳐 7분 이내에 임상화학 16가지 항목을 검사할 수 있는 체외진단기(LABGEO PT10)도 선보였다. 삼성메디슨은 초음파 영상진단기(H60)를 포함해 LED모니터를 장착한 고급형 초음파 진단기기(A30) 등을 전시했다.
조수인 삼성전자 의료기기사업부장 겸 삼성메디슨 대표는 “진단 환경에 새로운 가치를 제공하겠다는 삼성의 의지를 이번 전시회에서 적극 알릴 것”이라며 “앞선 IT•모바일 기술을 접목하면서 각계 전문의들과 연구 협력해 혁신적인 진단 솔루션을 제공하겠다”고 전했다.
삼성전자는 의료기기 개발뿐만 아니라 유방암 등 각종 질환에 관한 임상연구를 병행해 사람들이 조기에 악성유무를 진단하고 치료할 수 있도록 지원한다는 방침이다.
