SEOUL, KOREA – The Korean electronics industry is forecast to grow, on average, 4.15% annually to 2018. According to a survey conducted by Korea Electronics Association (KEA), the Korean electronics industry’s production is on the right track to reach KRW 386 trillion by 2018.
The Korean electronics industry’s 2013 production is expected to gain 4.0 % year-on-year to KRW 31.5 billion. The estimated annual growth is higher than 2.0% for 2011 and 0.8% for 2012.
The Korean electronics industry’s exports are also likely to increase, on average, 4.27% annually until 2018, backed by improvements in the global electronics industry’s current situation and brisk exports of smartphones and system semiconductors. Exports are estimated to swell from this year’s USD 158 billion to USD 194.7 billion by 2018.
By export item, exports of smartphones will continuously stay on an upward trajectory. As for the personal computer market, smart pads and hybrid personal computers will be in high demand. On the TV front, despite the launch of OLED, UHD TVs, sluggish demand for LCD TVs and market saturation in advanced nations are likely to stunt growth to some degree.

국내 전자산업 생산 규모가 올해부터 오는 2018년까지 연평균 4.15% 성장할 전망이다.
22일 지식경제부는 한국전자정보통신산업진흥회(KEA) 조사 결과를 인용해 국내 전자산업 생산액이 지속적인 성장세를 이어가면서 오는 2018년 386조원에 이를 것으로 내다봤다.
조사 결과 올해 생산액은 전년 대비 4.0% 증가한 315억원에 달할 것으로 예상된다. 연간 증가율이 지난 2011년(2.0%)과 2012년(0.8%) 수준을 뛰어넘는다. 세계 경제의 완만한 회복과 신흥 시장 스마트 기기 보급 확산에 힘입은 것이다.
전자산업 수출도 오는 2018년까지 연평균 4.27% 성장할 것으로 보인다. 세계 전자산업 업황 개선과 스마트폰, 시스템반도체 등 수출 증가가 주요 동인이다. 수출액은 올해 1580억달러에서 2018년 1947억달러로 늘어날 전망이다.
품목별로는 휴대폰이 스마트폰 시장에 힘입어 수출 호조를 이어갈 것으로 기대된다. PC 시장은 스마트패드, 하이브리드PC 등이 기존 수요를 대체하며 시장 수요를 이끌 것으로 점쳐졌다.
TV는 OLED, UHD TV 출시 효과에도 LCD TV 수요 부진과 선진국 시장 포화 등으로 인해 성장이 다소 정체될 전망이다.
지경부는 시장 전망을 토대로 중소중견기업 육성을 포함한 `건강한 전자산업 생태계 조성`에 주력할 방침이다. 우리 전자산업이 지속적으로 성장하지만 대기업 의존도가 큰 반도체•디스플레이 분야 외에 전자부품 산업은 생산•고용이 감소하는 추세다. 지경부는 올 상반기 내에 중소중견기업 경쟁력 향상을 위한 분야별 정책 과제를 도출할 계획이다.
